Here are some examples of our commissioning and partnership work:
Case studies
Participatory, intergenerational processes:
Half Life was commissioned by The Albany, Gulbenkian Theatre and ARC, Stockton as part of each of their performance participation programmes. It was a creative project to connect intergenerational participation strands and celebrate them on stage. Working alongside 10 year olds, teenagers and older adults Tangled Feet’s founding members devised a participatory piece all about growing up and growing old. Across the 3 venues 45 local participants performed alongside TF on their local stage.
Launch of renovated cultural space:
Factory Reset was commissioned by the Culture Trust, Luton as the spectacular reopening of the newly renovated Hat Factory Arts Centre. Bringing together local youth performers, poets and live music, a national calibre creative team and internationally renowned aerialists and sharing a narrative of the buildings past and future, centering the power of arts participation and creation. Seen on BBC Look East by over 500,000 people.
“a stunning spectacle that surpassed our expectations and wowed thousands of audience.”

Celebrating sporting events
Collective Endeavour (link) was commissioned by Leeds Council and Dep Arts to celebrate the Rugby World Cup coming to the city. This commission gave us the chance to celebrate the connections between collaborative creativity and team sport! Working with local writers, actors and hundreds of volunteer performers, accompanied by a giant, flaming rugby ball in the sky, the show celebrated rugby heroes, collective action and the history of Leeds. Media coverage worth over £300,000 was generated.
“From the very start of the project Tangled Feet’s drive, enthusiasm and commitment to delivering something truly special was relentless.”

Working with charities
For Murmurations we worked in partnership with leading charities the National Trust and the RSPB to make a sensitive and surprising response to the native species and tensions in our nation’s wildlife parks. Working alongside a renowned playwright, local experts and state of the art sound design we created an aural and live performance that gave the land a voice and the audience an adventure through it. Murmurations has been re-staged in 5 unique locations.
Place based, co-created commissioning
The commissioning of Rave New World allowed us to delve into place based working and community partnerships. Co-created with the Exodus Collective, the community of Marsh Farm Outreach, local writers /historians the show, with an original rave soundtrack, was a spectacular celebration of Luton’s revolutionary rave scene. Exploring a local story and giving it a national relevance created something very much of its location but with a universal message. Featuring a youth ensemble, circus, live music and moving cars it was a feast for the senses. An album launch followed the live event. Social media reach of 150,000+
Brand launch
A Moment on the Lips was a commercial commission to launch a new Kitchen brand and shop in London’s West End. Working with a leading British theatre writer we co-created a series of short plays with a kitchen at their centre and then performed them in the new surroundings across a series of launch events. The pop up event centred the importance of food and kitchens in all our lives!
